Fairies !n Space series
Fairies !n Space is Alyson Budde’s visionary fiction series, inspiring adventure stories that imagine a world of peace and collaboration, a world without war, violence or victims, where all are heroes who love their friends, the Earth, and adventure, and rely on personal resources and each other to solve problems and save their world. The series world consists of:
- Magical characters: fairies, an elf, the Wizard, a gnome, dragons, Star beings, Earth Twosians, and other elemental beings;
- Magical animals: a space-leaping dog, a shape-shifting cat/horse, a giant green spider, a golden eagle; and
- Magical locations: Earth (inner and surface), and Space (the Fairy Star, the Dragon World, the Transformation Station, and various new Earths).
Fairies !n Space was inspired by the Wonderland Playhouse Improvisational Storytelling Project, a children’s theater where innovative stories were told and mounted into full-scale productions. After experiencing the disappointing end to their first violent story, the young playwrights never again wrote a villain character. The message of their 36 productions was clear:
- Violence is unnecessary
- Villains are irrelevant, and
- Adventure is good for it’s own sake.
Fairies !n Space was written for these young storytellers.

Book 1, Updated Edition
StarWalker and the Fairy Queen
In a single act of bad fairy magic by her brother, Iliyan (the Fairy Queen) is hopelessly lost and left, utterly without memory, in space. Rescued by StarWalker, healed and helped by a family of shaman dragons, Iliyan’s memory is restored, but the location of her home remains a mystery. A journey to the Fairy Star initiates a series of foretold events that reveal Iliyan’s mysterious destiny.
Meanwhile on Earth, Nib (an elf) and his gnome friend, Mc*Manigal, stumble into mounting fairy chaos and choose to act to save the Fairy Glen. In Inner Earth, they navigate the treacherous Crystal River rapids, pass the Wizard’s three tests, find the Queen’s missing brother, and journey to the heart of Inner Earth to retrieve a dragon-guarded piece of the puzzle.
StarWalker and the Fairy Queen is about guts, collaboration, and friendship. In the face of harrowing circumstances, each is tested and revealed a hero. Earth-changing magic results from the journey. And none of them could have done it alone.
